Lanterns over Thean Hou Temple outside Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I saw these lanterns in a brochure and knew that I had to go for an evening shot. It is quite a large temple and very well kept. We had no way to get back to town but luckily a British expat gave us a ride after we inquired about buses/taxis. It was a very kind gesture, an poor planning on my part.
This large temple is just on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. I saw a picture of these lanterns in a brochure and knew I had to come here in the evening when they were lit up. It had rained that day so I adjusted the tripod to the lowest it would go to get the reflection in the puddle. When my friend and I left we were stuck there as there was no bus and no taxis and it was a bit of a remote area. Luckily a British expat was nice enough to ask if we needed help and gave us a ride back into the city centre.
This is the Torre del Mangia in Siena, Italy. I don't speak Italian, but I think this roughly translates as "Tower of the Eater" or "Eating Tower". Siena is an amazingly preserved medieval town and should be on any travel itinerary for Italy. The town is fun to wander around in, but you are also close to Florence, vineyards, and the landscapes of Tuscany.
