These enormous trees lining this road are near Morondava in western Madagascar. They are said to be up to 1000 years old, or even older. There are two women walking toward the camera who help show the size of these trees. If you look closely you can see that they are carrying baskets on top of their heads. While the rest of Africa has one species of baobob, Madagascar has seven.
For those of you familiar with Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this is the castle in the final scene of the movie. It is relatively close to the port city of Oban where I was staying, but it was a rush to get here in time for sunset as I didn't account for the twisting roads and extra driving time.
