This is a small waterfall near the parking lot of Silent Lake Provincial Park. Initially I was disappointed to see that the trees were pretty bare, but I learned that for waterfall photography, it can actually be better that the leaves are on the forest floor rather than the trees. The leaves had settled on a raised section between the water streams and I had never seen anything like it before. I put on the rubber boots I keep in the trunk for times like this and got in close with a wide angle lens.
Just a small forest I found while driving back from Algonquin Park in Ontario, Canada. I like finding stands of trees like this, where there aren't a lot of bushes on the forest floor making simple compositions difficult. Usually it's man-made forests that are like this.
An abstract image from the annual International Fireworks Competition that takes place in Gatineau, Quebec. After the first few go off the air starts to fill with smoke, so wide angle shots don't look as nice. It's at that point that I use my telephoto lens to do some close up shots. I've started playing with zooming and/or moving the camera to get some creative effects.
