B.C. - Spring 2022
This trip was so-so. I wanted to see BC but also get some good photos. I was hoping for nice green foliage and strong waterfalls, but it was a very cold and rainy spring and I didn't often get any good light for photos. They said Vancouver was going to get a month's worth of rain in one week, and during the trip they were breaking 100 year old cold temperature records. I injured my knee, which made me have to skip some hikes, and I decided at the last minute to skip Carmanah park because I was alone and it was too remote. Vancouver was ok but I'm getting tired of big cities as they all seem to blur together after you've travelled for a while. Vancouver Island was great, Victoria was a nice quaint city, and the giant trees were amazing to see. I'll have to go back some day and spend more time near the ocean, which I didn't do enough of this time. It would also be good to see more of the big trees before they're gone. The Okanagan was a really nice area, I tried lots of amazing wines. I skipped the mountains because May is a bit too early (there's still snow and many things aren't open) and I only had four weeks; not really enough time to do the big cities, Vancouver Island, the Okanagan, sites in between, AND to try to add the mountains to that. My hunt for Kouign Amann pastries was fruitful; I tried 14 new ones! I'll definitely go back to BC.
