Florida - February 2006
The main goal of the Florida trip was to go to Key West. I had two intrepid friends that agreed to drive down there with me, Alex and Paul (from Winnipeg). Most of me road trips are in February because that was spring break at university. We ended up in the everglades pretty much by accident, didn't spend much time there. Then we went down to Key West and spent a few days there but hotels were really expensive and almost all booked up. Did some snorkelling, saw the famous sunset, and wandered around a bit. Then we drove up the east coast through places like Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Daytona Beach. The sand on Daytona Beach was really really hard, to the point that it hurt the knees after walking barefoot on it for a while. We stayed right across from South Beach one night and ended up being in Miami at the same time that a giant yacht show was on. We made a stop in Coral Castle; a place made out of huge stone block by a little guy that weighed only 100 pounds and was five feet tall. The blocks are so huge that it would take weeks to plan to lift one with modern cranes and this guy did it with a few simple tools. No one knows how he did it and he always worked at night. We also went to a couple of exotic car shops.
