This is one of the giant camphor trees on the grounds of the Kumamoto Castle park. They are hidden behind a baseball diamond and are said to be at least 1000 years old. As usual, in my opinion, trees look great when photographed in infrared.
This is the pagoda that is near Nachi Falls, the tallest waterfall in Japan. This unobstructed viewpoint was hard to find and I had to wait for the tourists to leave. But it was worth it when some mist rolled in and created a magical mood.
This is the little waterfall in Takachiho gorge. The hike through the gorge is a great experience and it's worth the trip to this small town. The people are friendly, the food is great, and there are a few nice temples around. This waterfall has been photographed many times before, but I think this shot through the bridge railing achieved a more creative and unique image.
