This is a waterfall that's right at the beginning of the hike through Shiratani Unsuikyo, a famous hike through an ancient forest on Yakushima Island. This was probably the most amazing hike I've ever done. You pass giant trees that are thousands of years old, waterfalls, and you even walk through trees in a couple places. This is where the "moss forest" is, made famous in the movie Princess Mononoke.
I left really early in the morning to get to the famous Arashiyama bamboo grove in Kyoto, Japan, but I got a bit lost and ended up arriving about 45 minutes later than planned. By that time there were already some tourists around and I couldn't get the tourist-free shots that I wanted. So instead I started shooting off to the sides, into the forest, and tried some camera movement as well.
This is a fairly simple shot of sunrise over Lake Winnipeg at Winnipeg Beach, Canada. I had come out here to get shots of the ice formations that occur as spring sets in, but I was too early. I tried a few shots but this was my favourite; I like the sunlight hitting the tops of the snow ridges and the peaceful feeling of the image.
